  It’s amazing what time will do. When this movie first came out it seemed like a gratuitous piece of shit. But over the years, it has come to seem like a gloriously gratuitous piece of shit, an example of pulp filmmaking at it’s most beautifully tawdry and operatic. In it, Pacino’s hamming finds its perfect vehicle, his Tony Montana is a smeared caricature of rabid, 80s-style capitalism. What’s not to like?
