On the Water

Disc review

This boho Baltimore electro trio just keep getting better with each release – if you’re counting, they have a trunk full of ten full-lengths, 7-inches, tapes, etc. that bear their name since 2008. On the Water vibrates to the whims of lead man Samuel T. Herring’s baritone vibrato, a true force of musical nature that leads the pulls and punches of Future Islands’ deep, dark and romantic synthesizer love songs. Equally adept at busting out dance-floor fare as well as food-for-thought slow burners, Future Islands deserve your attention.
