Enjoying renewed interest since their cameo in last year’s hit comedy Bridesmaids, the trio best known for early 1990s hits like Hold On, Release Me and You’re in Love is back with a new album featuring covers of songs by the legendary bands their parents were members of. Respectively the daughters of The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson and of The Mamas & the Papas’ John and Michelle Phillips, Carnie and Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips have a way with vocal harmonies, no doubt. All the same, their takes on the likes of California Dreamin’, Monday Monday, God Only Knows and Good Vibrations can’t help but severely pale in comparison to the classic originals.
