The Hunters

Disc review

Four years after leaving their den to release Dissent Lasts., Quebec City foursome The Hunters prey upon heartfelt punk-rock fans once again with Promises, an honourable second album. The collective has not lost its undeniable knack for anthemic chants, original melodic structures and effective breakdowns without going overboard. But, much like on their first CD, The Hunters’ sonic arsenal sorely lacks personality, lying somewhere between Rise Against’s grain and Against Me!’s gusto. So while they come close, The Hunters don’t hit the bull’s eye on Promises.
