In an interview with Hour’s André Péloquin about the upcoming album from Islands, frontman Nick Thorburn revealed that while his recent tweet about the likelihood of a “Unicorns casino tour in around 15-20 years” was a joke (obviously), a reunion show was not out of the question – and sooner rather than later.
“Well, you know, 2013 will mark the 10th anniversary of Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone? and since Jamie and Alden are still in Montreal, I think it would be cool to get back together for, at least, one show during Pop Montreal. We flirted with the idea from time to time and we’re all doing our own thing right now, but maybe 2013 will be the year where the stars will align. I’m always open!”
So we’ve got that to look forward to in 2013. Before that, Islands will release A Sleep & A Forgetting on February 14 via Anti-Records. The band will also play a show in Los Angeles on that same date, the first of a tour which will stop in Montreal on February 27, at Cabaret du Mile End (more tour dates).
