For those of us who consider ourselves of the older generation variety, it’s nice to take shelter once in a while in bands whose members aren’t in their early twenties, bands peopled by players who’ve actually lived a little and can think for themselves. Two great Montreal examples of this are heard here on this split 12-inch. First up is Plunt, a boy-girl four-piece who’ve run around the track since 2006, responsible for whip-smart, melodic and bent pop that oozes intelligence, coolness and music savvy. The Tibaldos are fronted by vocalist Emma Tibaldo, who leads her troupe through short and sharp tunes of powerful rock- and punk-tinged popular music.
