Led by songwriter Emmanuel Laverdière (who, full disclosure, also works in the web department of Hour/Voir), Idiomatic is a local band that, from the sounds of this album, must have been influenced by the British rock of Coldplay, Placebo and the likes. Over trippy layers of guitars and keyboards, Laverdière sings about fear, doubt, confusion, guilt, regret. And yet, ultimately, we emerge from The Room with a feeling of hope. "We’ve come this far/ And after all we can only go forward." A promising debut.
