Baby, it's cold outside, but it doesn't mean we have to take a break from music shows and festivals

Starting this weekend is the sixth edition of Igloofest, which will notably bring Diplo, Tiefschwarz, Buraka Som Sistema, Green Velvet and Tiga to the Jacques-Cartier Pier. (January 12 to 28; igloofest.ca)

Also not to be missed is Montréal en lumière, warming our winter for the 13th year with concerts by Toots Thielemans, The Barr Brothers, Theophilus London, Coeur de Pirate, Philippe B and many others. (January 16 to 26; montrealenlumiere.com)

Among the most promising one-off shows, let’s mention the return of Gigantour featuring heavy metal bands Megadeth, Motörhead, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil, who are bound to make the Bell Centre rock harder than the Habs do these days. (February 3)

A bit less than a year after the release of Blood Pressures and their last visit to this city, indie rock duo The Kills will be back for another round at L’Olympia. (February 5)

Charles Bradley delivered a solid set at Osheaga last year, but I still can’t wait to see the Screaming Eagle of Soul in the more intimate atmosphere of the Corona Theatre. (February 10)

Local trio Plants and Animals will launch their new album, The End of That, on February 28; two weeks later, they’ll bring their new material to the stage at Cabaret du Mile-End. (March 10)

At the tail end of 2011, blues-rockers The Black Keys put out El Camino, their follow-up to breakthrough album Brothers, which sold over 500,000 units and won three Grammy Awards. The new LP has already proven to be a commercial and critical hit as well, and fans can’t wait for their tour, which will stop at the Bell Centre in the last stretch of winter. (March 13)
