Exactly the type of self-made album we like to stumble upon. Formed in 2008, this Nova Scotian quintet bring something fresh to the punktrified classic-y rock scene with Unite, their debut album, released not too long ago, after giving away last year’s free-of-charge download The Cover Up (that includes reprises of Love, Muddy Waters, The Monkees, CCR and The Yardbirds). They don’t hide their influences, they embrace ‘em. Lots of bluesy guitar (which surfs, slides or rocks big-time), a huge and fuzzy organ sound (straight from beyond The Doors), some baked singing-screaming (somewhat akin to DFA 1979)… Unite has an overall 70s vibe that doesn’t sound dated at all. The perfect fit for your next sunny road trip to the furthest smoky saloon. Cheers y’all!
