THURSDAY 31

Begin your evening with the virtual vernissage of phase 2 of the English Language Arts Network’s (or ELAN’s) Recognizing Artists: Enfin Visibles! project (surf to www.raev.ca) at Eastern Bloc (7240 Clark) from 6 to 10 p.m. Free. This is a great way to reacquaint yourself with Montreal’s amazing anglo artists. Then go to Cabaret Le Balcon (304 Notre-Dame E., suite 201) in Old Montreal for the Carolyn Fe Blues Band, whose song The Curse is one of the nastiest blues songs ever written. Dinner ($42 at 6 p.m.) or show only ($10 at 8 p.m.).

FRIDAY 1

Michael Flatley’s international Irish dancing phenomenon Lord of the Dance returns to Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at 8 p.m. ($55-$75). Show repeats at 3 and 8 p.m. on April 2. The MAC’s Friday Nocturnes series (5-9 p.m.) welcomes Montreal punk rockers The Sainte Catherines (live set 7-8 p.m.), $6-$10. Montreal chart-topping hard-rockers Jonas & The Massive Attraction headline Club Soda with opener The Trews at 8 p.m. ($27.50). SATURDAY 2

The world’s most famous basketball team, the Harlem Globetrotters, headlines the Bell Centre at 2 and 7 p.m. ($29.50-$140.50), and the Edgy Women Festival winds down with its always fun Edgy Boum closing party at Mainline Theatre (3997 St-Laurent). Tix for 8 p.m. show and 9 p.m. party ($20) or party only ($10). Melodic American hardcore band Title Fight open for Comeback Kid at Foufounes (87 Ste-Cat E.), and Funkytown (1454 Peel) hosts its annual Spring Classic Disco Party ($12).

SUNDAY 3

The OSM and the famed Magic Circle Mime troop perform a children’s concert that asks: Can noise be transformed into music? Does silence have a sound? Music, Noise and Silence takes over Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. ($14.25- $36.46). Over at the Studio at the Segal Centre (5170 Côte-Ste-Catherine), the Paul Shrofel Trio headline the CBC Routes and Power Jazz performance series at 8 p.m. ($12-$25). Then the We Ain’t Terrorists comedy show with host Ali Hassan takes over ComedyWorks (1238 Bishop) at 8:30 p.m.

MONDAY 4

Cinéma du Parc (3575 Parc Ave.) hosts the Festival du Cinéma

Latino Américain de Montréal until April 24, and tonight’s selection is the critically hailed, heart-stopping documentary film The Two Escobars, about Pablo Escobar (Medellín cartel drug kingpin) and Andres Escobar (the biggest soccer star in Colombia). The two weren’t related, but their fates were inextricably, and fatally, intertwined. Pablo’s drug money turned Andres’ national team into South American champions. The amazing inside story screens at 7 p.m. ($11).

TUESDAY 5

The clock is ticking on the critically lauded play La Sagouine, starring Canadian theatre legend Viola Léger in the classic monologue of a washerwoman dramatizing four centuries of Acadian existence. Léger has performed the role of La Sagouine over 1,400 times across Canada, the U.S. and Europe for almost 40 years. The play runs at the Segal Theatre (5170 Côte-Ste-Catherine) until April 10 ($22-$44). Surf to www.segalcentre.org.

WEDNESDAY 6

After wild exploitation-film screening parties at Cinèma L’Amour and the Rialto, Grindhouse Wednesdays returns on the first Wednesday of the month with a small-scale affair featuring evil vegan monsters at Montreal’s Mainline Theatre (3997 St-Laurent). Popcorn, beer, plus DJ and musical act to be confirmed. Tix ($10) raise money for Head & Hands, which gives kids access to sex ed. Showtime: 8 p.m. Over at Jello Bar (151 Ontario E.), the all-star Café Soul – best R’n'B house band in North America – begin their first set at 10:30 p.m. ($7).
