Larry Jon Wilson

Disc review

Wow! Knowing nothing about this "outlaw" country gentleman, I find myself wanting to know all I can, and specifically hear more of his weather-beaten, tear-stained and intensely personal folk tales. This is Wilson’s first record since forever, a time when he ruled Nashville’s underground scene, never making it big like many of his compadres. A real shame, since as is evidenced on Unearthed, Wilson has the grizzled, honest voice that strikes a chord right between the temples, all the while punching you right in the heart. There’s sometimes nothing more complex then the simplicity of a man and his guitar.
