Is Blood Heron (Renovation Tracks)

Disc review

Miss Thomas has flown below the radar for years on the Maple Leaf trail of singer/songwriters, and quite unfairly so. She is a talented multi-instrumentalist – guitar, piano, Omnichord, organ, ebow, drums – and budding engineer, recording the bulk of this new disc which was largely written traversing this continent far and wide. The songs look at love and all, and have a raw, angsty I’m-talking-to-you feel that hits you between the eyes (and ears), flowing to the rhythm of rock and folk and the neatly weird. A few friends lend a hand, but this is Thomas’s baby, a sweet one at that, from start to finish.
