Radiance of Shadows

Disc review

I have heard the (dark) light and it is Toronto duo Nadja. Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff weave their aural magic again with their third record for Alien8, a swirling sound vacuum of pummelling bass, crawling drum machines, creeping piano, guitar and flute, snowstorm static, and whisper-in-the-wind vocals. With its three songs averaging 25 minutes plus, Radiance of Shadows is sure to keep the band’s legion of doom fans happy while enticing newbies with songmanship and structure second to none. This is quiet. This is loud, very loud.
