Disc review

Nadja are the unassuming duo of Aidan Baker and life/music partner Leah Buckareff. They’ve risen to the top of the bubbling doom metal scene internationally through scores of tiny releases and tours here and there. Touched is album number two for the mighty Alien8, and it’s easy to see why people are hitching a ride. Nadja slowly build long songs (five tracks here clock in at an hour) with optimum space, which allows us to get inside the creations, and behind the scenes we’re treated to the delicacy of flutes and cutting vocals juxtaposed with a hammer-of-the-gods rhythmic procession.
