Fly or Die

Disc review

Pharrel’s "other" group’s sophomore release has an effort to feature more live instruments and rock influences. So, the everything-hybrid group presents more wailing guitars and wailing Pharrel to accent the same choppy instrumentals and genre mash-up very much in the N.E.R.D. fashion: good but irritating. In much the same way, guest spots by the Roots’ ?uestlove and Lenny Kravitz rock Maybe, but the whiny brothers from Good Charlotte make an unfortunate appearance on an annoying teen angst track Jump. It’s all about extremes with N.E.R.D.
