Make the Cowboy Robots Cry

Disc review

With the exception of the occasional electronic accessory added to the mix here and there, this EP doesn’t mark much of a departure from Beachwood Sparks’ last full-length, Once We Were Trees. Of course, nobody does the dreamy country-pop thing like this Los Angeles band. And this is an undeniably trippy reverie, with delicately intricate melodies and sweet harmonies that will make most sigh and bask in their pleasantness. The more cynical among us might cringe, and yet others might snooze (as one critic recently noted, this might not be the best soundtrack for driving at night). (John MacFarlane)
